PRIVAT LIVEMONT (1861-1936) [TROPON CHOCOLAT-COCOA.] 1900.

Condition B+: repaired tears through left margin, affecting image; creases in margins and image. Matted and framed.
One of Livemont's rarer images, this exquisite poster shows a mother offering a bowl of cocoa to her two children. The figures, surrounded by Livemont's trademark white outline, are tenderly rendered in soft pastel shades which makes them stand out boldly against the darker background. No copy of this poster is known to exist with the lettering. Its title is attributed to an article in The Poster magazine, from 1900, where it was reproduced and given the name "Tropon Cocoa." However, it must have been an editorial mistake, as Tropon, a German food and pharmaceutical company, was working exclusively with Van de Velde, and they never sold cocoa!
